Holding Nick Sirianni Accountable?

“The Eagles won! Why complain?”

I’m a little confused by this reaction.

It’s a pretty simple answer that I can’t believe I have to explain, but here it is. 97% of the game (offensively) was absolute garbage and if I only focused on the 3% then I’m not holding Nick Sirianni accountable.

This city is obsessed with holding Ben Simmons accountable.

Brett Brown, Doc Rivers, Carson Wentz, the list goes on and on.

Nick Sirianni is no different.

I have my concerns about Jalen Hurts. My biggest issue though is game planning, strategy, and play calling.

It’s hard to analyze the QB properly when his coach is lost.

Nobody expected dominance from a first-time head coach and play caller. I expected him to target the weakness of opponents. I expected him to have an idea of what to focus on throughout the practice week.

After the loss to Dallas he stated the idea was to keep up with the Cowboys offensively. Huh?! That’s the exact opposite of what should of happened. After watching the Panthers get gashed in the run game the best concept was to screen them to death and not run?

Please.

How about this? Actually generating success and going away from it for no reason!

Jalen Hurts missed an open Zach Ertz on 4th, but maybe they’re not even in that position if they stayed 11 personnel.

I’d be okay with a low win total as long as we saw creativity, progress, and steps in the right direction. The offense made ZERO sense in 3 of the 5 games to this point.

How is Dallas Goedert not featured more?

Look, I’m disappointed in Jalen Reagor to this point and unfortunately he seems to have the same mentality as Derek Barnett. With that said, how can I expect Sirianni to figure out how to use Quez Watkins and Reagor in better ways if he’s struggling with Goedert!

It’s a mess.

I don’t want to hear that they moved the ball fine in Atlanta. We knew once tape was on Sirianni it’s a different beast. I also don’t want to hear about how well the ball moved against Kansas City. His deficiencies as a coach plays a major role in why the red zone sucked and couldn’t cash in.

“We are going to put our players in the best positions to succeed.”

It’s obvious how much Jalen Hurts can use his legs as a threat. That only works when you have an attack on the ground the opponent at least respects. I’m not pounding the table screaming I need 50-50 balance. It needs to be more.

”The RPO counts as a run.”

You’re right Nick! Except for the fact that you’re wrong.

I’m frustrated with Miles Sanders for the unacceptable performance late running out of bounds. He’s also hurting significantly from this RPO method.

Once again, I didn’t expect a flawless offense.

Step 1 is properly assessing the opposition and knowing what to take advantage of. It doesn’t even seem that’s on their radar right now which is extremely concerning.

Fundamentals. That was a word heavily used early on.

We know his focus on wide receivers. How is it that Greg Ward and JJAW both get called for pick plays in the end zone? How is it that we’ve seen big explosive plays taken off the board because of receivers getting pushed out of bounds by the corner.

What he promised isn’t being executed.

And let’s be clear here, I’m not claiming he can’t get better. It takes time.

So why do I feel this way?

I am talking about controllables.

The season was always about big picture.

The build. The culture. The makeup of a new creative offense.

I’m happy Jalen Hurts and DeVonta Smith experienced an incredible effort to sneak away with a victory.

I’m more focused on the long term details though. There’s legit reasons to be concerned about the head coach.
